GAC Chemical Corporation Hires Sean Varney as Maintenance & Project Manager

GAC Chemical Corporation is pleased to welcome Sean Varney as our new Maintenance & Projects Director. Sean brings nearly two decades of engineering and leadership experience in the marine and industrial sectors, with a strong background in maintenance planning, and asset management.

Before joining GAC, Sean served as a Chief Engineer in the U.S. Merchant Marine, working for Crowley Petroleum Services, where he managed complex mechanical and electrical systems aboard a range of vessels, including tankers and tugboats. He later transitioned to shore-based roles, applying his technical and operational expertise to facilities and maintenance management.

Sean is a 2004 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, where he earned a degree in Marine Engineering. He is passionate about building efficient maintenance programs, implementing condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies, and fostering collaboration between operations and maintenance teams to improve reliability and safety.

Originally from Maine, Sean is excited to contribute to GAC’s continued success and modernization. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two sons, engaging in activities such as snowmobiling, boating, and exploring the Maine woods.
