MAINTENANCE & PROJECT DIRECTOR

Overview

The Maintenance & Project Director manages facility projects from initiation to completion and plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the maintenance operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and engineering knowledge, and experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on project management and safety compliance.

 

Duties

  • Develop project plans; including scope, timelines, and resources with assistance from others when appropriate.
  • Coordinate contractor and vendor activities while working within the limits of approved available funding for capital expenditures.
  • Track project progress, performance, and budget adherence.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in a leadership role with GAC’s Hazardous Material Response Team and assist with the training and development of the team activities.
  • Provide assurance of compliance with Lockout/Tagout and Confined Space policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance with environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain proper equipment and repair documentation through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain and document Management of Change and Mechanical Integrity programs under the Process Safety Management (OSHA) and Risk Management Plan (EPA).
  • Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of the high-pressure steam plant.
  • Manage and provide support to the Maintenance Supervisor in effective personnel supervision, maintaining equipment repair documentation, and overseeing the Trailer Shop and Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Program.
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff to enhance their skills and promote a culture of safety.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain Fourth Class Boiler Operator’s License from the state of Maine.

SENIOR MECHANIC

This is a full-time position; benefits available, including 401(k); health, vision, dental, and life
insurance; employee assistance program; paid vacation and holidays.


Starting at $26.62 per hour.

The Senior Mechanic performs a wide variety of maintenance and mechanical tasks, including
the following:

 

  • Safely performs all work in accordance with the Company’s Safety Policy and Job Safety
    Procedures.
     
  • Makes manual adjustments to the steam boilers while servicing the equipment.
     
  • Performs work at the journeyman level in three of the following maintenance mechanical
    skill areas:

    • Machinist
    • Millwright
    • Automotive Mechanic 
    • Certified Welder
    • Ironworker/Rigger
    • Electrician
    • Instrument Technician
    • Pipefitter
    • General Repair
  • Troubleshoots and resolves maintenance and mechanical problems in the maintenance
    mechanical skill areas.
  • Directs the activities of Maintenance employees in subordinate job classification as may
    be assigned to the job, including explaining new jobs and work procedures.
     
  • Promptly and proficiently performs related work as required.
  • Must follow practices of cGMP and food safety standards when entering ammonium
    sulfate production and packaging areas. This includes an obligation to report any
    concerns with the Food Safety Management System.
  • Member of the HazMat team.
  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) a High Pressure Boiler Operator License.
